Murray’s Cheese Shop has been featured on our Original Greenwich Village Tour since we launched the tour in 1999. We were SO excited when Murray’s opened their first restaurant, Murray’s Cheese Bar, a few doors down from their flagship store last year.
Murray’s Cheese Bar is an awesome place to stop by and relax after a tour. They have an outstanding wine and beer selection and if you have room after the tour, you should absolutely order a cheese plate to share. In fact, Chef Michele Pulaski recommends that every guest start their meal with a cheese plate. And that’s just what we did!
The folks at the Cheese Bar were nice enough to host us for lunch recently where they shared with us the menu items they are most proud of. We started with the “Cheesemongers Choice” flight which is a great way to get a custom made selection featuring the best cheeses Murray’s has at that time. Cheese is seasonal, similar to other foods we eat, so trying cheese at it’s peak is definitely the way to go.

Our second course was one of the few non-cheese selections, a new take on the classic Niçoise salad, served each ingredient laid out on a cheese board for a gorgeous presentation.

- Challerhocker, pepperoni, chipotle-pickled carrots, bell pepper, sunflower sprouts & Piri Piri aoili on Ciabatta
