Walk and eat
We took a walking-and-eating tour of Chelsea Market and the meat-packing district. The market is an indoor foodie experience, with large glass windows fronting on to the walkway through which you can watch the food preparation: a bakery, fishmonger's, specialist tea store, cookie-maker, wine store, tea-blender, Italian food importers and more. The market is in the old meat-packing district, which until recently was populated by prostitutes and transvestites. Our tour was by Foods of New York (www.foodsofny.com).
